Genesis 41:15 (AFV) And Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I have dreamed a dream, and none can interpret it. And I have heard it said about you that you can understand a dream to interpret it."
May I begin this devotion with some questions. What are your most prominent God-given gifts or talents? How often do you use those gifts or talents in being a blessing to the lives of people? Are your gifts and talents known to people? Joseph, the beloved son of Jacob, had the gift of understanding and interpreting dreams. While he was in a dungeon (a strong underground prison) for a crime he did not commit, he used his gift to interpret the dreams of two of Pharoah’s servants who were his co-prisoners (Gen. 40:1-23). Then, when Pharoah had a dream and no one could interpret it, Pharoah’s chief butler, who had been freed according to Joseph’s interpretation of his dream, REMEMBERED Joseph and RECOMMENDED him to Pharoah, as one who can understand and interpret dreams (Gen. 41:1-15).
Many jobs and opportunities that will come our way in this life, will come by way of RECOMMENDATION. It is extremely important to identify and to use our God-given gifts and talents to bless lives, as often as possible. In doing that, people get to know “what we are able to do”, that is, our “competences”, “capabilities”, “abilities”, “skills”, or “expertise”, for which they can recommend us when the need arises. So then, as we have opportunity, we should use all our God-given gifts and talents do good to all, and especially to those who are of the household of faith (Gal. 6:10). This is wisdom!
