Deuteronomy 4:12-13 (KJV) [12] “And the LORD spake unto you out of the midst of the fire ... [13] He declared unto you His covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and He wrote them upon two tables of stone.”
Welcome to the tenth month of the year 2025. The number 10 in the Bible is rich with symbolic meaning. It is often connected to completeness/divine order/human responsibility before God, and testing/final accountability/judgment. So, the number 10 in Scripture carries a two-sided message – a call to responsibility and a warning against rebellion. For example, we have the Ten Commandments (Exo. 20:1-17), which represents the fullness of God’s moral law and complete expression of His will for His people. On the other side of the coin, we have the Ten Plagues in Egypt (Exo. 7-12), which shows the complete judgment of God against Pharaoh and the gods of Egypt.
The Positive side of the number ten (10) calls us to faithfulness in our God-given responsibilities, as He equips us to live in complete obedience. We are to honour the LORD with our substances (e.g. with His tithes & our first fruits). On the other hand, the “warning side” of the number ten (10) reminds us of final reckoning; every person will be tested, whether by trials in life, or at the final judgment. Everyone must give account before God.
