Matthew 25:1-2 (KJV) [1] “Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. [2] And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. ”
There are several lessons we can learn from the parable of the Ten Virgins. One of these lessons is that SALVATION is personal. You cannot borrow someone’s relationship with God or the Holy Spirit when the time comes. This is why the Bible teaches us to “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” (Phil. 2:12; KJV). When the foolish virgins realised that their lamps had gone out and that they needed oil, they said to the wise virgins, “Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out” (Matt. 25:8; KJV). Salvation and spiritual life are personal; no one can lend you their relationship with God. As believers, we must live prepared and Spirit-filled at all times.
Now, to ensure one is always prepared, the Bible tells us to “Take care then how you are living, not as unwise, but as wise” (Eph. 5:15; BBE). So, the way to take care how you live is to “make every minute count” (Eph. 5:16; CEV) Other Bible versions say, “make the best use of your time” (ESV paraphrased); “Make good use of every opportunity you have” (GNB). 1Corinthians 10:31 (KJV) says, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” This is wisdom!
