1Timothy 6:6 (KJV) “But godliness with contentment is great gain.”
2Peter 2:9 (KJV) says, “The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations ...” Another benefit of living a godly life is deliverance out of temptations. The LORD God keeps the upright safe in the time of testing or in the time of trouble. In Luke 22:31-32 (KJV), our Lord Jesus Christ said to Peter, “... Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: [32] But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not ...” From time to time, Satan makes a request to have us, so that he may put us to the test as grain is tested. None of us can overcome Satan’s temptations by ourselves if the LORD our God does not help us. When the godly is tempted, the LORD makes a way of escape for him by showing him how to escape from the temptation (1Co. 10:13).
