Psalm 59:10 (NET) “The God who loves me will help me ...”
Psalm 59 was written by David during one of the most dangerous moments in his life (1 Samuel 19:11–17). David had become very popular in Israel after defeating Goliath, and Saul grew jealous of him. Saul’s jealousy turned into murderous hatred, and he sent soldiers to surround David’s house and kill him the next morning. But Michal, David’s wife (and Saul’s daughter), warned him and helped him escape through a window.
Now, if you are facing any form of unjust opposition, oppression or spiritual warfare, be rest assured that the God who loves you will help you against every works of the enemy. God’s love is not just emotional; it is protective. Like David, you can rest in confidence that “The God who loves you will help you against the murderous hatred of the enemy. As the LORD used Michal, David’s wife (and Saul’s daughter) to help him escape death, so the LORD can raise people to help you in your time of need. Amen.
Now, to enjoy the continuous help of God, it is important to have an ever-growing personal relationship with God just as David had. Remember, David was known as “a man after God’s own heart” (1Sa. 13:14; Acts 13:22). As a man after God’s own heart, David always wanted what pleased God above all else. He loved God sincerely, not just with words, but with devotion and obedience. He was a man “quick to repent” when confronted with his sins (Psa. 51). We must yield to the help of the Holy Spirit to love what God loves, hate what He hates, and walk closely with Him. May this be our life-time commitment, in Jesus precious name.
