Deu 8:18 (KJV) “But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”
The LORD God gave the children of Israel the “power to get wealth.” Why? Because of the agreement or promise He made with their ancestors (Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob). What was this agreement or promise? The LORD promised Abraham and his descendants, saying, “I will make you into a great nation, and I WILL BLESS YOU; I will make your name great, SO THAT YOU WILL BE A BLESSING (Gen 12:2; BSB). The purpose of God’s blessing on a man (the power to get wealth) is “so that” he will be a blessing. This is the summary of God’s purpose and plan for every man – to be blessed to be a blessing to others through acts of love and compassion. The Bible says, “Don't be interested only in your own life, but care about the lives of others too” (Phil. 2:4; ERV).
