Psalm 54:4 (KJV) “Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.”
David, the author of this Psalm, was facing betrayal and danger. David was hiding in the wilderness of Ziph while fleeing from King Saul. The Ziphites, who were from David’s own tribe of Judah, betrayed him by reporting his location to Saul. Saul then mobilized men to capture David, but God repeatedly delivered him (1Sa. 23:19-24; 26:1-3). So, it was by the HELP of God David was delivered from the hands of king Saul. May the LORD our God be your HELPER in all situations and circumstances, in Jesus precious name.
Now, when David said, “God is mine helper” (Hebrew = Elohim ʿōzēr li), he was not speaking of a “one-time” help or “occasional assistance”; he was speaking of a strong, sustaining or continuous help. Secondly, the Hebrew word, ʿōzēr, which means, “helper”, is derived from the Hebrew verb, ʿāzar, meaning, “to help”, “to aid”, “to rescue”, or “to support with strength”. My prayer for you today is that the LORD will assist you with anything you need in this life. May the LORD rescue you from all dangers. May the LORD our God give you physical and spiritual strength to enable you accomplish His plans and purposes for your life, in the precious name of Jesus Christ. Finally, the Hebrew word, ʿōzēr, emphasizes immediate action and strong intervention. This means, the help of God is never late; it is always on time.
