1Co 16:9 (KJV) “For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.”
A “great door” in the context of our Scriptural text, speaks of a “big opportunity” in one’s life given to one by God, to achieve or accomplish something great. One of the Greek words translated opportunity is, “kairos”. It means, a “set time” or “proper time” or a “due season”. It is extremely important to be watchful and sensitive for your set or proper time or your due season. Your due season is your favourable season or your set time of favour. The Bible says, “Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come” (Psa. 102:13).
Now, it is important to pray about the great door or great opportunity that is opened unto us. This is because, there are many adversaries (enemies) that are interested in hindering us from maximising or making the most of, or making best use of our opportunities. Every divine opportunity is given to us to make great impact in this world, to the glory of God. But with every great opportunity comes resistance and opposition. However, the LORD has said, “Behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it…” (Rev. 3:8). Hallelujah!
