Romans 8:28 (KJV) “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
The Epistle to the Romans was written by the Apostle Paul during his stay in Corinth, as he prepared to visit Jerusalem and later hoped to travel to Rome. In our Scriptural text, he writes to comforts believers who are going through pain, social ostracism, economic hardship, persecution, and trials under Roman rule, reminding them that God is sovereignly working through everything – even suffering – for their ultimate good. So, from this text we learn that nothing happens by accident in the life of a child of God. Even painful experiences are orchestrated by God to bring about spiritual maturity, divine fulfilment, and ultimate good. Even when life seems chaotic, God is weaving every thread – joys, sorrows, failures, and victories – into His divine plan for our ultimate good.
Now, the key to all things working together for our good is “loving God” and “living within His purpose.” God’s purpose is the framework within which all things work together for good. When we love God and walk in His purpose, even what the enemy meant for evil becomes a tool for our growth and blessing. Joseph’s life illustrates this. Joseph said to his brothers, “You meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, to save many lives” (Gen. 50:20). God used betrayal, slavery, and imprisonment to align Joseph with his divine assignment. Glory to God!
