John 12:25 (TPT) “The person who loves his life and pampers himself will miss true life! But the one who detaches his life from this world and abandons himself to Me, will FIND TRUE LIFE and enjoy it forever!.”
There are two types of life people live, knowingly or unknowingly; they are the “true life” and the “fake life”. That a man has all human, financial, and material resources he needs does not necessarily mean he is living a “true life”. A man living a “true life” is a man of a great personal relationship with the Almighty God and one of great positive impact on the lives of many. If your primary concerns in this life is all about what you will eat and drink, what you will wear, and your need for a roof over your head, then, you are not living the “true life”.
According to our Scriptural text, a person who desires to live the “true life” does not PAMPER HIMSELF; instead, he brings himself under strict spiritual discipline in order to PLEASE the LORD God in all he does. Apostle Paul said, “I discipline my body and keep it under control ...” (1Co. 9:27; ESV). What are your most important passions and pursuits in this life? Are they connected with advancing God’s kingdom on earth?
