Luke 12:15 (KJV) “And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.”
There are a number of things we need to watch out for and keep ourselves from. One of such is covetousness or greed or the desire to make wealth “BY ALL MEANS”, especially by fraud, deception, scam, cheating, trickery or double-dealing. This has become a serious challenge even in the Church of God. Some pastors now pray over “yahoo boys” for the prosperity of their business, in the hope of them getting “a piece of the action”. Listen! Our Lord Jesus Christ has made it clear that, “... your true life is not made up of the things you own, no matter how rich you may be" (Luke 12:15; GNB). Some other Bible versions puts it this way, “... the value of a person’s life is not determined by how much wealth they possess” (Remedy) or “... your life can never be measured by the amount of things you possess” (TPT).
Let’s be wise! Live for something worth living for. Live for Christ and live for positive impact. Apostle Paul said, “To me, the only important thing about living is Christ ...” (Phil. 1:21; ERV). The Remedy Bible version says it this way, “... the only purpose in living is to promote the truth about God as revealed in Christ ...” Let’s be wise!
