[Divine Instructions]
Job 33:14,16 (KJV) [14] “For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. [16] Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction”
All through Scripture, God spoke in diverse ways. In the Old Testament, sometimes the LORD spoke directly (audibly). At other times, He spoke through dreams and visions. Then, He spoke through prophets (Heb. 1:1). But according to Hebrews 1:2, God’s primary way of speaking to man now is through Jesus Christ. How? Through His Word (the Bible). Jesus is the Living Word (Joh 1:1, 6:63), and the Scriptures are the written Word inspired by the Spirit (2Ti 3:16). The LORD our God speaks through His Holy Spirit who makes the written Word alive and personal (Joh 14:26; 16:13). The Word is above every other form of revelation. So, Job 33:16 tells us that the LORD “openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction”. Through His Word, the LORD gives us “divine instructions.”
Biblical instructions are the commands, teachings, directions, and guidelines that God has given in His Word to show us how to live, worship, and walk with Him. Now, some people hate instructions (Psa. 50:17). It is foolishness to hate divine instructions. The Bible says, “fools despise wisdom and instructions” (Prov. 1:7). Proverbs 4:13 says, “Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.” The Bible says, “... reproofs of instruction are the way of life” (Pro 6:23). Proverb 10:17 (Darby) says, “Keeping instruction is the path to life ...” Proverbs 13:18 says, “Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction ...”
