1Timothy 6:6 (KJV) “But godliness with contentment is great gain.”
My focus in today’s teaching is about contentment. What is contentment? It is a state of being in which one is thankful to God about one’s current state and situation, as well as being free from the cares or anxieties or worries of this life. It is characterized by a sense of inner peace and calmness. It avoids comparisons with others. It also brings about inward satisfaction with what one has. Apostle Paul said, “... I have learned to be content in whatever state I am” (Phil. 4:11; MKJV). Jesus said we are not to “worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself” (Matthew 6:34). Yes! We can and should plan for the future, but we ought to say, “If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that” (James 4:13-16), while we remain thankful for our current level.
