Psa 111:10 (KJV) “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom ...”
Job 28:28 (KJV) “... Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom ...
Wisdom begins with the fear of the LORD, which is demonstrated by obedience to God’s word. The New English Translation (NET) says, “To obey the LORD is the fundamental principle for wise living; all who carry out his precepts acquire good moral insight ... (Psa. 111:10). To fear God in the context of this Scriptural passage is to esteem God’s word and commands above that of men; to be determined to obey God rather than man (Acts 4:19). The impartation of divine wisdom is sometimes a reward from God to those who hold Him at high esteem as shown by their die-hard obedience to His word. So, the Good News Bible (GNB) says, “... He (God) gives sound judgment to all who obey his commands ...” (Psa 111:10). The LORD God rewards those who fear Him with “wisdom secrets” (Psa. 25:14). The fear of the LORD means, “to hate evil” (Pro. 8:13). By the fear of the LORD men depart from evil (Pro. 16:6).
