1Co 16:14 (KJV) “Let all your things be done with charity.”
In our previous exhortation, we talked about what it means to do something “in love”. Today, we focus on the second thing about our Scriptural text, which is, to do all things “out of love”, instead of “out of fear”. To do things out of fear means you are doing them from a place of obligation or worry over the consequences, resulting in the case of “needing to do something” rather than “wanting to do something”.
To do something out of love, is to do it because you are motivated by a strong desire to do it. When you do something out of fear, you bring a negative pressure on yourself. The Bible says, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love” (1Jn 4:18). To do something “out of love” is similar to doing something “with love”. To do something “with love” means to approach a task or interaction with genuine care, dedication, and affection, rather than acting out of obligation or resentment. There is a liberty in doing something “out of love” or “with love”. You simply bask in the beautiful feelings and joys it evokes in you and others. Let everything we do, be done “out of love”. Hallelujah!
