2Timothy 2:15 (KJV) “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
Divine purpose demands PREPARATION. God equips a person before He exposes him or her. If you must be launched into your great destiny, you must present yourself to God as a tried-and-true worker. Speaking about John the Baptist, the Bible says, “And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel” (Luk 1:80). Growth in skill, knowledge, and character makes us fit for divine assignment.
Now, in our Scriptural text, Apostle Paul is writing to Timothy, his young protégé in ministry, giving him instructions on how to live and serve faithfully as a minister of Christ. The core instruction here is STUDY. The word “study” here means to be diligent or to make every effort. It’s not just about academic study but about earnest commitment, discipline, and consistency in LEARNING and LIVING God’s truth. In the pursuit of divine purpose there is no end to learning. We grow in in skill, knowledge, and character by STUDYING and LEARNING. The goal of studying and learning is to gain God’s approval, not human recognition (Gal. 1:10). In the pursuit of divine purpose, one must give oneself to diligent study and learning as a lifelong lifestyle. So, ask yourself the question before the close of the day: What new thing have I learned in connection with my divine purpose?
