Ecc 10:10 (KJV) “If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.”
Ecc 10:10 (CEV) says, “If you don't sharpen your axe, it will be harder to use; if you are smart, you'll know what to do.” There are many things we may be struggling with just because we lack the direction the wisdom of God gives; we don’t know what to do. Wisdom is profitable to direct; it makes any job easier. Wisdom makes things go well. One wisdom we must engage with is the wisdom of “iron sharpening iron” (Prov. 27:17). We all have areas of our lives that are blunt, dull, edgeless, or rough. Since it takes iron to sharpen iron, we all need the help of others to sharpen us. Therefore, it is wisdom to identify those whose “areas of strengths” can sharpen us, and learn under them with all humility. We can benefit from the wealth of other people’s years of research and findings, as well as their years of experience.
