Pro 12:8 (KJV) “A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.”
The degree to which men will hold us in highest regard will be determined by our words and acts of wisdom. Sometimes, when a person is despised (looked down on) in any aspect of life, it is very likely that he or she is living unwisely. When Sarah acted foolishly by giving her maid, Hagar, to her husband, Abraham, to be his wife, she became despised by Hagar when Hagar saw that she had conceived (Gen. 16:3-5). The Apostle Paul said, “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity” (1Ti 4:12; KJV). Therefore, we must think, speak, and act wisely, becoming an example of the believers in wisdom. No one respects those who speak and act unwisely. If we speak and act wisely always, men will commend us or speak well of us, and celebrate us, even against their wish or will.
