John 12:24 (KJV) “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.”
In our Scriptural text above, our Lord Jesus Christ reveals a secret to a life of continuous fruitfulness. The secret is “death”; death to any hindrance to growth and increase. To be productive in any area of life, one will have to “die to” certain things such as bad habits or lifestyles, wrong attitudes or approaches, and improper mindset or way of thinking. For example, anyone who will increase or grow in his or her spiritual life must die to “prayerlessness” and “laziness in the study of God’s word” (Acts 6:4).
Now, if a man will be productive financially for example, he must die to a life of “slothfulness”, that is, laziness or idleness; he must be hardworking and diligent (Prov. 6:4-11; 10:4; 13:4; 18:9; 21:25; 22:29; Mat. 25:26). Furthermore, he must die to a lifestyle of frivolous spending and become a wise saver and investor (Mat. 25:14-27). What is hindering you from being productive and fruitful? Be resolved to die to it today, by seeking the help of the Holy Spirit.
