2 Samuel 22:29 (GW) “O LORD, you are my lamp. The LORD turns my darkness into light.”
Darkness is synonymous to “obscurity”, that is, the state of not being known to many people. There are many people in this world with great talents that are not known or recognized; they are covered in darkness, with no visibility. David was a healthy, good-looking boy with a sparkle in his eyes (1Sa 16:12; CEV). He had all the potentials to kill a lion and a bear (1Sam. 17:34), as well as to kill Goliath, the giant Philistine (1Sa 17:41-51), and to be the king of Israel (2Sa 5:4-5), yet, he was in obscurity in the field in Bethlehem, taking care of the sheep. He was unknown and living in obscurity until the mercy and grace of God found him (1Sa 16:1-13). Even when Prophet Samuel came to the house of Jesse to anoint one that will become king in place of king Saul, David was considered unimportant, unfit, and inconspicuous. May the LORD bring us out of all forms of obscurity, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
