Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV) “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”
Pursuing God’s purpose and plans is one of the highest callings of a believer’s life. In this teaching, I present some biblically grounded steps that outline clearly and practically, the process of pursuing and fulfilling God’s purpose and plans for our lives. The first step is “Seeking Intimacy with God.” The Bible says, “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.” (James 4:8). We “draw nigh to God” by spending time in prayer, worship, and the Word. Purpose flows from communion with God.
The second step we must take toward the pursuit and fulfilment of God’s purpose and plans for our lives is the “Total Surrender our Will.” In pursuit of God’s purpose and plan for His life, our Lord Jesus Christ said, “Not my will, but thine, be done” (Luke 22:42). True pursuit begins with yielding our will, desires, and plans to God’s plan.
One of the most vital aspects of pursuing God’s purpose and plans is the ability to discern His voice. So, we need to “Develop Spiritual Sensitivity.” Our Lord Jesus Christ said, “My sheep hear my voice …” (John 10:27). Observe how God speaks to you mostly – through Scripture (The Word of God), inner witness (Promptings of the Spirit), prophetic direction, or circumstances. We need to be sensitive to “divine timing.” The Bible says, “He (God Almighty) hath made every thing beautiful in his time ...” (Eccl. 3:11; KJV). There is a divine and an appointed time to every purpose under the heaven (Eccl. 3:1). Glory to God!
